The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is investing in Indigenous student achievement and promoting greater awareness among all students of Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives.

In collaboration with the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board is seeking to enhance board and local community education partnerships to better serve Indigenous students attending schools across the St. Clair Catholic District School Board through education service agreements, the Anishinabek Education System, and through the Voluntary, Confidential, Self Identification processes.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is honoured that Indigenous families continue to self-identify and programming and services are enhanced through this process. The St. Clair Catholic District School Board connects with local Indigenous communities and organizations: Aamjiwnaang (Chippewas of Sarnia First Nation); Bkejwanong Territory (Walpole Island First Nation); Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation; Eelūnaapèewii Lahkèewiit (Moraviantown); Caldwell First Nation; the Sarnia Lambton Native Friendship Centre; and the Métis Nation of Ontario. The St. Clair Catholic District School Board continues to develop reciprocal relationships and partnerships with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities in the region. As we strive to localize student supports, we must address existing gaps in our system. Geographically, we service Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton and work with communities with specific goals, wants, and needs as identified through our Indigenous Education Advisory Committee.  At this time, we are looking to engage in a good way through a process whereby families can be specific and identify their community as part of the self-identification process. As we mobilize our partnerships with communities this enhanced community identification will enable our board to support the specific community needs in regards to data sharing, program development, and student needs, when requested by the community.
